This is Revisiting Vinyl, a new blog that's just getting started.
When I was a child a long time ago, I grew up listening to my parents’ vinyl records and later, my own 45s before moving to 8-tracks, cassettes, CDs, and, now, streaming.
Recently, I ordered a turntable and a few favorite albums — including Rumors — and in this blog, I want to explore a few things:
- Returning to old music with new ears and experiences.
- Considering the evolution of media.
- Exploring the ways in which music has informed my life.
- Adding occasional book and album reviews.
I don‘t anticipate making “Revisiting Vinyl” a newsletter. Rather, I’ll publish blog posts — hopefully, one each week. This is more about sorting out some things than building an audience. This is a free-form project, and right now, I’m not sure what, exactly, it will be like.
And why include Rumors? Because it’s a key album for me, and something I’ll write about later.
